Electronic Voice Phenomena & Feedback Loops

It’s an exciting publishing day here with two new pieces out today for your reading pleasure. Here I continue to riff on the concept of mashing up EVP with sound manipulation.

First up, my newest text piece titled Dead Voices Feedback Looping. is up over at the always interesting don’t submit!, it’s very much a continuation of the Divination And Magnetic Tape For Dummies that was published a little while back. Meanwhile, my new poem Ectoplasm Air Piece Radio is up over at The Pixelated Shroud, a mysterious little project I just recently discovered.

And while I am updating, I encourage you to please check out my Soundcloud, where there are at least three new tracks up including Paranormal Circuitry, Meditations Multiple Voices In Error, and Espace Interieur Noir. The latter two are also up on all major streaming platforms if that is your thing.

New Cut-up

I have a new cut-up piece up over at the excellent Overground Underground blog. The piece is a surreal intersection of tape manipulation and electronic voice phenomena. I was a little more playful than I usually am, and am quite pleased with the results. Hopefully, you will be too.

Cutting Up Burroughs

I am very proud to be included on this compilation from Church Of The Noisy Goat entitled Cut-Up: A Music Compilation in Honor of William S. Burroughs. My track, under the moniker of Broken Zen is titled The Ghost Of William S Burroughs Part 2. It’s no secret Burroughs is a huge influence and the cut-up method is a tool I employ on a regular basis, so I am super stoked to be a part of this compilation. This from the label:

Listen to our second netlabel compilation. Inspired and conceived in honor of William S. Burroughs and his industrial music work by cutting loops from magnetic tapes. We surpassed our goal with 62 beautiful tracks thanks to the cooperation of all the artists who follow us and support us tirelessly. We want to thank everyone and say that we are very happy that this has happened in our history and that we can share it.

This work demonstrates that Underground is very engaged. Unreleased and previously released tracks by artists of various musical styles, which proves that the artistic genre of collage developed by William Burroughs is omnipresent and very fruitful in experimentalism. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this work in partnership that is inserted today in our Bandcamp and take a copy by Free Download (Name Your Price) and have fun with this overview of the world scene of cut and paste sounds.

Two New Poems

I have two new poems up in the new issue of the excellent French journal Pro/p(r)ose! It is a pleasure to once again be featured in this magazine, and have the opportunity for my work to receive exposure internationally. Their journal is definitely worth checking out if you are fluent in French, or like me, modestly trying to learn. I hope you’ll check out my new poems.

I am very eager to be featured in more French journals, both in English and in translation. I am also interested in re-issuing previous chapbooks in French. Editors or translators out there feel free to get in touch, or point me in the right direction.

An Accidental Period Of Time

I have a new album over at The Awareness Factory titled An Accidental Period Of Time a short six song collection ranging from noise to ambient sounds. This is the first digital solo album I’ve put up in quite some time, so I hope you’ll dig it. As always, all albums are available for streaming or download and priced as ‘pay what you want’. I’m excited to be experimenting with sounds again as I emerge from my hibernation. I’m extremely interested in compilations and splits, so feel free to contact me!

I’d be remiss not to remind everyone that my newest chapbook, Automation, Man! Bold Machines is still available on Amazon and priced around six bucks. I hope you’ll check it out, and as always, your support is extremely appreciated!

Automation, Man! (Bold Machines)

I’m proud to announce that my newest chapbook is out now from Sweat Drenched Press! Autmation, Man! (Bold Machines) is a collection of poems centered around the machines, factories, and technological singularity. Many of the poems have been published here and there, but have finally been brought together for the first time as one collection. My last few chapbooks have centered on text, so this is my first poetry collection in years and I am quite proud of it. It is available now and you can pick it up here!

I hope you all will consider checking it out, and maybe even consider writing a review. Also consider supporting more artists from Sweat Drenched Press, a new press well worth keeping an eye on.

Out now from Analog Submission Press is my newest chapbook, Subliminal Syntax. Handmade and limited to 25 copies, the publisher describes it as “an 18 page feast of cut-up prose and syntactical deconstruction.”

This is my first chapbook in quite sometime and I’m very proud of it! I hope you’ll pick up a copy today!

New Chap coming In The New Year

While I’ve been lying low and generally being apathetic, time has simply flown by. I’m realizing that my last chapbook released online was 2013… and my last actual print chapbook was way back in 2009! Luckily, it seems my decade of apathy is coming to a close. My next chapbook, Subliminal Syntax is due for a February release from Analog Submission Press.

Feels good to be back in my old skin. Here’s to a productive 2019!
